Champagne Pond

Lava Hike from Puna side with Jimmy, Hyesung, and 7 Geminids. The hike was only about 45min each way to a large breakout and fantastic ocean entry.

Lava flow down the pali

At the surface breakout

Standing on the cliff edge looking down on the ocean entry. Lava is pooling up on to land just below, above that the stream of lava flowing directly into the ocean is visible. Where we were, lava was flowing just 4 inches below our feet.... right at the edge of the cliff. Perfectly safe? Mmmm, probably not.
