Part III, The Milford Track, Day 2 (day of waterfalls)

Just so you don't lose the trail... Actually, the trail could be lost here, when wading through meter deep water as apparently occassionally happens! I'm grateful to not have first-hand experience with that!

Back in the deep, dark ancient forest

Through the Clinton Valley, waterfalls streaming down the steep walls everywhere you look

A weka! One of New Zealand's flightless birds

The friendly neighborhood Kea, itching to get into trouble

Trying to destroy hiking poles

One gone, one to go

So, apparently if you hang your boots, the keas won't shred them to bits. Yeah Right! We watched this guy trying to tear the soles off one pair, after which everyone brought their shoes inside the hut.
